Professor Deniz Duman is a specialist in gastroenterology and internal medicine. She uses advanced endoscopic techniques with more than 25 years of experience in medicine. She received her medical degree from a highly prestigious medical university in Turkey named Hacettepe University followed by a long occupational practice in Marmara University, another highly respected university in Turkey where she worked with esteemed mentors and finally got retired in 2019 after raising numerous fellows, residents, and medical students in the field.  She then worked as the chief of endoscopy and the director of gastroenterology clinic in Liv Hospital Ulus, a well-known private hospital in Istanbul.

She worked with Dr Eike Burmester from Luebeck, Germany; Dr Elisabetta Buscarini and Dr Alessandro Zambelli from Crema, Milan, Italy; Dr Michel Kahaleh and Dr Reem Sharaiha from Cornell University, New York, USA; Dr. Roy Cochel from Birmingham University, Selly Oak Hospital, Birmingham, England.   She was elected as an exchange student for American Field Service when she was 17 and she spent her senior year in Brookstone High School at Columbus, Georgia, USA.  Obviously, after all these international experiences she gained insight into different cultures other than Turkish culture and traditions.
